According to the airline’s commercial director, Imanol Pérez, the growth is significant because it reflects a change in the behavior of European travelers, who are increasingly choosing to stay in the country instead of continuing on to other destinations in America. Panama Consolidates its Position as a Key Destination for European Tourists The increase in European visitors reflects a growing preference for Panama as a primary tourist destination. According to the airline, this phenomenon demonstrates a strengthening of the country’s image as an independent attraction within the region. “More and more European passengers are choosing to stay in Panama and not continue on to other destinations,” Pérez noted. More Than 40 European Destinations Connected Via Madrid One of the key factors in this growth is air connectivity. Air Europa operates from its hub in Madrid, from where it connects to more than 40 European cities, facilitating access to the Panamanian market. The main source countries include Spain, France, Italy and Germany, whose travelers have steadily increased their presence in the isthmus. Panama City, the Canal, and Natural Destinations Lead the Interest The main tourist attractions continue to be Panama City and the Panama Canal. However, other destinations have gained prominence in European itineraries. Regions like Bocas del Toro and Boquete have sparked a growing interest due to their offerings of nature, beaches, and cultural experiences.
