The Panamanian rock group, Los Rabanes, was included in Billboard magazine’s list of the 50 best Spanish-language rock bands of all time. They appear in position 49 of the ranking, which also includes Maná, Los Fabulosos Cadillacs and Soda Stereo. Billboard states that the selection brings together bands that have had a historical and cultural impact since Rock en Español consolidated itself as a relevant element within the Hispanic culture. The list also highlights how they integrate genres and cultural traditions, as well as their style of combining rhythms like ska, reggae, punk, cumbia, and Caribbean sounds. “Formed in 1996, Los Rabanes is Panama’s most iconic alternative rock band. With their unique sound and infectious energy, they have become pioneers in breaking down genre barriers with their distinctive fusion of rock, reggae, ska, and pan-Latin rhythms, conquering audiences throughout Latin America and beyond,” they posted. “With a sound free from constraints and musical barriers, hailing from Chitré, Panama, we weren’t afraid of changing the framework of traditional styles. Waving the flag of Ska and fusion, we always did what we wanted, shaking things up. To this day, we continue to have fun breaking rules and mixing what many didn’t even dare to think about,” they added. Los Rabanes, with more than 30 years dedicated to music, has visited many stages around the world and has won a Latin Grammy. In addition, they are known for songs such as Señorita a Mí Me Gusta Su Style, Perfidia and My Commanding Wife.
